ROUND ONE This round features our Thrilla’ in Vanilla aged for over 6 months in Carolina Bourbon barrels. Our homemade vanilla extract using whole Madagascar vanilla beans, the smooth bourbon and the oak all meld together to make this the perfect way to start the fight!
ABOUT THE ORIGINAL THRILLA: One of our oldest friends reviewed the business plan and had only two suggestions (1) include finger puppets of ourselves in the business plan and (2) rename the vanilla porter. We took both very seriously and immediately put them into action. Little did we know that brainstorming would lead us to the epic fight in Manila. We loved the name Thrilla’ in Vanilla’ and what really cemented it for us was picturing vanilla beans duking it out! Trust us, this beer is knock out!

THE STORY Abby’s amber came into creation quite simply I would say. Our BFFs daughter, Abby, was at the Lane nutshack one afternoon and was talking to Larry about beer, as she often would. When she heard about my Wilma’s Wandering EyePA she was instantly jealous and looked at Larry and stated matter of fact that she wanted a beer named after her. Now I know that this seems ordinary but you have to know that Abby was 9 years old at the time. She is no ordinary child either as she is an amazing musician, teaching herself the guitar and piano at the age of 6. She intends to celebrate her 21st birthday with a pint of Abby’s Amber Ale which is no ordinary amber. Abby has to wait but you fortunately are able to partake and she will have to live vicariously through you!

THE STORY Our good buddy, Sparky, with whom we often trek into the woods to listen to music, requested a coffee chocolate stout as payment for a solid pecan pig chopping board he made for Larry. Sparky is an amazing woodworker, among other things, and delivered the coolest pig chopping board ever made! This beer was designed to be as interesting as our friend and can be enjoyed in many venues. Of course, it can be a breakfast or dessert beer but we like to drink it in front of a bonfire while listening to our favorite local bands and doing a little Sparky jig.

THE STORY: The story of Wilma’s Wandering EyePA begins at home at the Lane house. As a hophead, Cheryl insisted that Larry create an Imperial IPA with a slight floral nose and boy did she get it! THE STORY This beer was the brain child of our dear friend, Charley. We were hanging out in the garage (yes, it’s a common theme), bouncing around ideas for new beers when the light bulb went off in Charley’s head. She jumped out of her chair making a grand proclamation that a raspberry chocolate stout would be phenomenal. We went with her idea because she has great taste. Turns out she was right! This brew rocks, tasting like a dark chocolate raspberry truffle in a glass! Thanks Charley!

Sexy Rexy Red is named in honor of Cheryl’s dad. Nicknamed “Sexy Rexy”, Cheryl’s dad introduced her to beer for the first time. Rex was old school and loved him a “red snapper”. Before he died, Cheryl was in the process of converting him to craft beer. Sexy Rexy Red is smooth, charming and down to earth, just like Rex. This beer was brewed with the beach in mind, so take a trip to Ocean Drive, put your feet in the sand, and crack open a cold Sexy Rexy!

THE STORY Double Dubbel pays homage to trappist monks…and, well, “Monk Larry.” The addition of dark candi syrup during high krausen lends subtle undertones of plum. Like a mad scientist concocting experiments, Larry spent his first five brewing years in his garage adding this and that ingredient until the masterpiece was made.

THE STORY We make our summer seasonal wheat each year with a different fruit and hop combination. This past summer, we couldn’t resist adding local peaches and a sack of fresh ground grits from Atkinson Milling Company to add that extra bit of creaminess. Who knows what fruit, hops and other unique ingredients we’ll use for 2017!
